DESCRIPTION:22 Rimfire and Air guns only- Silhouette target shooting at the MPR. \nOffhand/Standing shooting at Metal Animal silhouettes with rifles or pistols\, open or scoped sights allowed. \nBenches are available during this practice period every Wednesday \nMembers of all 5 clubs are welcome.\n Fees are collected at the Multi Purpose Range\, not at the USI Clubhouse .\nThe MPR is the building on the right hand side as you pass the Public Range\, but before the Impalement Arts Range.\nLook for the red MPR flag on the flag post- that’s us!\n\nUSI waiver and a Blue Card issued from the USI clubhouse required prior to the match- there is no charge to these one time processes.\n\nA silhouette is a steel profile of an animal (chicken\, pig\, turkey\, or ram) standing on a pedestal. The object of the game is to knock as many silhouettes as possible off the stand\, shooting one round at each silhouette. It is a very simple competition\, with very simple scoring: Knocking an animal off its stand counts as a hit.\n\nAlthough silhouette is an easy game to learn\, it is not an easy game to master. The animals are rather small and the distances can reach out a bit; you must shoot offhand (standing); a moderate breeze can move a bullet or a pellet the width of an animal; your concentration becomes more difficult to hold as you knock down five in a row or with a close miss.  Silhouette is an endless challenge that makes you a better shooter!\nThis is a reoccurring event every Week- we intend to host this practice barring weather or extraordinary barriers preventing the event from occurring in a safe environment. DESCRIPTION:Schedule \n\nRegistration:  7:45 AM – 8:30 AM\n\nYou may pre-register and pre-pay here:  https://practiscore.com/clubs/diablo-action-pistol\n\n\nMatch:  9:00 AM – 2:00 PM\n\nMatch Fee \n\n$25  ($20 if you have a valid United Sportsmen VIP Access Card)\nWe prefer that you pre-register and pay on Practiscore\, but if registering at match please bring exact change.\n\nPrerequisites \n\nCompetitors must be “Action Pistol Certified” to take part in this match.  To become certified\, see the calendar for orientation classes.\nAll competitors need to bring or have a photo of a current USI waiver range card (“Blue or Green” card) to shoot at the range. If you do not have a current card go to https://unitedsportsmen.com/waiver/ for more information\, to watch the videos and take the online quiz prior to the class. We can issue current waiver cards at the class if you have completed the online portion.\n\nAbout Steel Challenge \nSteel Challenge is a speed shooting competition that consists of eight standardized stages with steel targets in three sizes; small circular\, large circular and square targets.  Competitors are scored by the time it takes them to complete each stage\, and the match winner is the competitor with the lowest overall time. \nOur matches have 5 stages with 5 steel targets on each.  Each competitor shoots each stage five times\, with their slowest run dropped\, excluding the stage “Outer Limits” where only four runs are shot and the top three counted.  The counting times are totaled for their stage score\, and the five stage scores are added together to establish the competitor’s match score. \nFor each run\, one hit per target is required\, with an unlimited number of rounds permitted.  The last target to be shot is known as the “stop plate”\, which stops the timer. All primary target hits made after the stop plate has been struck\, will be scored with a 3-second penalty each. The maximum time permitted for a run is 30 seconds and a competitor will be stopped and asked to reload if they reach the 30-second limit.

The object of the game is to knock as many silhouettes as possible off the stand\, shooting one round at each silhouette. It is a very simple competition\, with very simple scoring: Knocking an animal off its stand counts as a hit.\n\nAlthough silhouette is an easy game to learn\, it is not an easy game to master. The animals are rather small and the distances can reach out a bit; you must shoot offhand (standing); a moderate breeze can move a bullet or a pellet the width of an animal; your concentration becomes more difficult to hold as you knock down five in a row or with a close miss.  Silhouette is an endless challenge that makes you a better shooter!\nThis is a reoccurring event every Week- we intend to host this practice barring weather or extraordinary barriers preventing the event from occurring in a safe environment. DESCRIPTION:22 Rimfire and Air guns only- Silhouette target shooting at the MPR. \nOffhand/Standing shooting at Metal Animal silhouettes with rifles or pistols\, open or scoped sights allowed. \nBenches are available during this practice period every Wednesday \nMembers of all 5 clubs are welcome.\n Fees are collected at the Multi Purpose Range\, not at the USI Clubhouse .\nThe MPR is the building on the right hand side as you pass the Public Range\, but before the Impalement Arts Range.\nLook for the red MPR flag on the flag post- that’s us!\n\nUSI waiver and a Blue Card issued from the USI clubhouse required prior to the match- there is no charge to these one time processes.\n\nA silhouette is a steel profile of an animal (chicken\, pig\, turkey\, or ram) standing on a pedestal. The object of the game is to knock as many silhouettes as possible off the stand\, shooting one round at each silhouette. It is a very simple competition\, with very simple scoring: Knocking an animal off its stand counts as a hit.\n\nAlthough silhouette is an easy game to learn\, it is not an easy game to master. The animals are rather small and the distances can reach out a bit; you must shoot offhand (standing); a moderate breeze can move a bullet or a pellet the width of an animal; your concentration becomes more difficult to hold as you knock down five in a row or with a close miss.  Silhouette is an endless challenge that makes you a better shooter!\nThis is a reoccurring event every Week- we intend to host this practice barring weather or extraordinary barriers preventing the event from occurring in a safe environment. SUMMARY:Summer Steel Challenge League
DESCRIPTION:The 10 weeks of shooting.  3 steel challenge stages each week. \n\nWednesdays April 28 through June 30\nRange Officer shooting starts at 2:00 PM\nAll other shooters participate between 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM.  Shooters must start no later than 6:30 PM.\nNo pre-registration or sign-up required.  Just show up and shoot.\n\nFees: \n\nDiablo Rod & Gun Club members:  $5\nNon-members / guests:  $10\nPlease bring exact change.
