Rifle/Pistol Range Rules & Procedures

1. The Range Master and or Chief Range Safety Officer on duty, exercises control over all personnel using this range.

2. Firearms on the firing line must be pointed downrange at all times.

3. Uncased firearms carried behind the firing line must have actions opened at all times and chamber flags inserted.

4. No concealed weapons may be carried and no holstered firearms may be worn on this range.

5. Rapid fire is not permitted. Two seconds between shots.

6. No handguns permitted on the 100 yd range without range master approval.

7. Incendiary, steel core and tracer ammunition is prohibited.

8. Slugs and sabots only allowed in shotguns.

9. Minors under 8 years old and non-paying spectators are not permitted on the range.

10. A legal guardian or parent, 18 years or older must supervise minors under 18 years of age.

11. Wearing eye and ear protection is mandatory while on the shooting range.

12. All alcoholic beverages are prohibited on the range.

13. All persons entering the shooting range must register in the range office and pay the appropriate shooting fee.

14. All firearms must be carried in absolute safety, this means encased when arriving at the range. You may not uncase your firearm until you are on the firing line and the range is clear.

15. After registration and donning eye and ear protection you may proceed to your assigned lane and prepare your equipment while firing is going on. If you enter the shooting area during a cease fire you must stand behind the yellow line until the range is clear or go downrange to post your target. All equipment must remain behind the safety line.

16. Obey all range commands at once. If you are not sure of what to do Stop, Freeze and wait for instructions.

17. You may shoot at authorized targets only. Cans, bottles, human silhouettes, etc, may not be used as targets. Do not shoot at wildlife.

18. All exposed firearms on the benches must have their actions locked open, magazines removed, chambers unloaded and clear. Slides locked back. All firearms must have chamber flags inserted with muzzles pointed downrange at all times.

19. All persons not going downrange to change targets, must remain behind the yellow line during the ceasefire. Do not approach or handle anything on the benches during a ceasefire.

20. No handling or cleaning of firearms is allowed behind the red line.

21. Any person observing any violation of these rules or any dangerous situation is to notify the range safety officer at once. If you see something, Say something.

22. Creating a disturbance or violating any rule will result in loss of range privileges.

23. Never climb any vegetation area.

24. You must retrieve your target board and return through the range office when leaving the range to collect your U.S.I. range card.
