Three Diablo hunters took off mid week this month, drove to Cedarville Ca. This area is full of Hay/ Alfalfa fields and populated with many ground squirrels. After the Hay is mowed, it makes for an epic day (or week) of shooting!

The location, besides being a 6 hour drive, is ideal- the people are very friendly, the views spectacular(the sky is really that color of blue) and when timed correctly, is a great time to build up a callus on the trigger finger.
We used .17HMR's for the culling.
Anything bigger would limit many angles as the fields aren't endless and there are out buildings, tractors, cows and irrigation pipes in the distance.
We met the father of Roger Seher on one of the fields- Roger is coowner of Airtanks Plus, a very reputable air tank and supply purveyor. Again great people and he has his own video on a hunt from a couple of years ago:

I'd recommend staying at the SunRise Motel- clean and gracious hosts, about $80 night.
Wifi didn't work for me at the motel, and cell was spotty- if you need to work online in between your shoots, be prepared for a laggy time.
